What we're doing to provide skills for life to more young people

We believe in the power that Scouting has to change lives, that's why we've made 'The Make it Happen Fund'. Our goal is to provide support to young people, Leaders and Groups to ensure that Scouting is accessible to all in the District who may otherwise struggle to take part. We want more young people and adults to benefit from the Skills for Life that we deliver, with no barriers.

The fund is aimed towards our youth members in Scouting (up to 18 years) to assist them to get as much out of Scouting as we can provide.  The fund is also available to our adult members who are in hardship.

Our fund can help cover subscriptions (subs), uniforms, equipment and even activity/camp fees can be supported by us. Other fees that haven't been mentioned may be considered, please get in touch with us to discuss them.

Applications can be made in partnership with your Group Scout Leader for Beavers, Cubs or Scouts oryour Explorer Leader and Explorer Scout Commissioner for Explorers.

To complete an application, some evidence may be required depending on the circumstances of the case. This will be discussed with you and is at the discretion of our District Executive Committee (the governing body for our fund). When purchasing equipment is involved, costs should be included as well as evidence that the best value for money has been sought. A receipt/invoice may be required for our records.
