We’re proud to share that two members from North Leeds, Matthew Simpson, a Scout Leader at 19th St Chad’s and Joseph Fletcher, our District Chair were amongst 165 young people aged 18-25 selected across the UK to be involved with Operation Feather as part of the Scouts, supporting all of those wishing to pay their final respects to Her Majesty The Queen.
Over the course of the last week, Scouts have been working around the clock in three 8-hour shifts across Victoria Tower Gardens, Tate Britain and Archbishop's Gardens to engage with members of the public, providing aid and encouragement, collecting for food banks, and getting them ready for the final stretch into the Palace of Westminster.
They both reflect that is has been an honour to have had the opportunity to do their 'duty to the Queen', fulfilling the promise they made throughout their time in Scouts as well as being able to both pay their respects as well.
The Scouts have a long history of supporting the nation and serving our communities and we’re proud of both of them for stepping up to represent North Leeds and Scouts nationally at this important and historic occasion.
